is a Charter School?
4th Grade Field Trip
A charter school is a "school of choice" sponsored
by the Anchorage
School District (ASD) and authorized by the school board. It functions under the management of the Academic Policy Board (APB),
which is comprised of stakeholders (parents, staff, community members,
etc.). The APC hires the principal, establishes school policy, has
fiscal responsibility and is accountable to ASD for delivery of it's
curriculum and charter. The program is tuition-free.
Eagle Academy opened September 2005. We are easily accessible in
the former Automax Building located on the south Eagle River exit.
Our school hours are 8:30 am to 3:20 pm.
" An excellent addition to our school district for those students
who desire a structured, standards-based Spalding® curriculum. We encourage you to learn all you can about their program
proposal." - Carol Comeau, Superintendent
Eagle Academy offers parents and students the exciting option of
standards-based grading and progressive instructional concepts in
a structured environment that emphasizes character development and
traditional values." -
John Steiner, School Board Member
“Eagle Academy is a wonderful fit for our family. Since my children have been attending the school, their academics have more than excelled. The one on one they get from the teachers is amazing, along with the principal and most of the staff. So many opportunities have been given to my children since they have started school here. They are placed in the level that works well for them and pushed when needed to excel to the next level and that is just what they need.” - Traci Payne
“The structure and curriculum of EACS is making a huge difference in our daughter’s learning. We have seen her advance rapidly since she entered the school this year.” - Kristen Bush
“We really enjoy the small school feel of Eagle Academy. It has worked well to keep my children engaged and working to the best of their abilities. It also provides a feeling of safety for the kids and for their parents since the school has an atmosphere of everyone knowing everyone.” - Naomi Groom-Collison
Parents or guardians of students at the charter school are responsible
for their student's transportation to and from school. Students bring lunches from home.
A hot lunch program is not available at this time.
