What
is a Charter School?
A charter school is a "school of choice" sponsored
by the Anchorage
School District (ASD) and authorized by the school board. It functions
under the management of the Academic Policy Board (APB),
which is comprised of stakeholders (parents, staff, community members,
etc.). The APC hires the principal, establishes school policy, has
fiscal responsibility and is accountable to ASD for delivery of it's
curriculum and charter. The program is tuition-free.
